SEAD (Sustainable Economic and Agricultural Development ) Project

Client: Tearfund Rwanda

The project (SEAD) is aimed at reducing the proportion of people who are food insecure and living below the national poverty line in the Southern Province of Rwanda. The project was designed to reach 30,000 households from 207 villages in ten selected Sectors in 4 districts of the Southern Province. The project beneficiaries were organized in 1500 newly formed Self Help Groups (SHGs) with approximately 20 members per group, 80% of those being women.

The Clinton Development Initiative (CDI) helps farming communities increase the output and quality of crops in a climate resilient and sustainable way by working with governments, seed companies, and other international organizations to help expand seed access and showcase best practices in climate smart agronomy and seed varietal choice.

As the curtain are coming down on their Rwanda Country Office, we reflect on the 16-year journey in the country. these photos will share with you some of their key highlights of what their journey has been like. Indeed where trees grow, people grow. The Vi Agroforestry office in Rwanda is phasing out and will terminate all its operations by 31st December 2022.
